What Is Lamination?

Lamination is a finishing process in which a thin plastic film is applied to printed labels to enhance both their durability and appearance.
Suitable for paper and polypropylene labels, it provides an extra layer of protection against moisture, abrasion, oils, and everyday wear.
At labelmakers.com, we use a wet lamination process, bonding the film to the label with a liquid adhesive before permanently securing it under controlled pressure and UV curing. For the best results, choose a gloss lamination for glossy materials or a matte lamination for matte materials to achieve a seamless, premium finish.

Protective Varnish or Lamination—Which Is Right for Your Labels?

Give your labels the protection they deserve. Depending on your application, you can choose either protective varnish or lamination. Protective varnish helps guard against everyday scuffs, scratches, and color abrasion, while matte or gloss lamination provides a higher level of protection and a premium finish. It also enhances label durability, making it ideal for products exposed to moisture, chemicals, or frequent handling.

Lamination is applied by bonding a thin plastic film to the printed label using adhesive, pressure, and UV curing. The result is a durable protective layer that extends the life of your labels while preserving their appearance.

We particularly recommend lamination for cosmetics, household chemicals, and other demanding applications.
