What Are Alternating Labels?
Alternating labels are designed for products that require both a front and back label to be applied during the same labeling process. Both label designs are printed alternately on a single roll, making them ideal for automatic labeling systems that apply front and back labels simultaneously.
This configuration helps improve labeling efficiency while ensuring both labels are perfectly synchronized throughout production.
How to Set Up Alternating Labels
1. Create Your Artwork
Place both the front and back label designs on the same artboard using Adobe Illustrator or another vector design application.
2. Set the Label Size
Add the widths of both labels together and include the gap required for the intermediate cut.
Example:
- Front label: 3.5 in wide
- Back label width: 3 in wide
- Intermediate cut: 0.125 in
- Total artwork width: 6.625 in
The overall artwork height should match the tallest label.
- Front label: 4 in high
- Back label height: 3.5 in high
- Total height: 4 in
3. Specify the Label Orientation
The winding direction and label orientation should match your automatic labeling equipment.
Please note: If you order 1,000 sets, you will receive 1,000 front labels and 1,000 back labels, produced exactly as supplied in your artwork.
