Guide to Creating Your Print Files

File Checker

Check if your files are print ready.

Simply write the size of your label and the number of label designs. Please note, if your artwork has hotfoil or opaque white option, check box needs to be checked.

You can upload one file or more files at the time. Each file will be show together with its status. There are two status messages. If your file is printable and our Preflight found no mistakes, you can proceed with your label order. If the Preflight found some errors, your file needs to be revised or you can book an Artwork Service.

Dieline Generator

Open the Print Template

Open the Adobe Illustrator (AI) template from your email using a vector graphics program, such as Adobe Illustrator. The file is created at the size you specified and includes a 0.125 in bleed around the label.

If you selected the Square or Round label shape, the dieline (magenta) is already included at the final trim size. If you selected the Custom Shape option, a placeholder dieline is included in the document. You can create your custom dieline in Adobe Illustrator using the Pen Tool.

Be sure to assign the dieline to the “Stamp” spot color in the Window > Swatches panel.

Apply Spot Colors

Apply the appropriate spot color to any vector elements that require additional finishing. In Adobe Illustrator, select the desired elements using the Selection Tool, then apply the appropriate spot color swatch (for example, “Foil”) from the Window > Swatches panel.

Move Elements to the Appropriate Layer

Now move the elements assigned to a spot color (for example, “Foil”) to the corresponding layer in the Window > Layers panel.

To do this, select the elements using the Selection Tool, then drag the selection indicator (the small colored square) to the appropriate layer.

Set Spot Colors to Overprint

Any elements assigned to a technical spot color (such as “Foil”) must be set to Overprint.

To do this, select the elements using the Selection Tool, then open the Window > Attributes panel. Under Fill, select Overprint Fill. For stroked objects, select Overprint Stroke.

Enabling Overprint ensures that the artwork beneath these objects remains intact instead of being knocked out during printing.

Check Colors Using the Separations Preview

To verify that your settings are correct, open the Window > Separations Preview panel.

Enable Overprint Preview to view the color separations as they will appear when printed.

You can then show or hide individual color separations to verify that each spot color and process color is set up correctly.

Export the Finished Print File as a PDF

Once all spot colors have been set up correctly, you can export your artwork as a print-ready PDF.

Go to File > Save As…. In the dialog box, enter a file name, choose a save location, and select Adobe PDF (.pdf) as the file format. Click Save.

In the Adobe PDF Presets menu, select High Quality Print. Next, open the Marks and Bleeds section and check Use Document Bleed Settings. The 2.5 mm bleed you previously set should be applied automatically.

Finally, click Save PDF. Your print-ready PDF will be saved to the location you selected.
